Distant soil moisture detector Ranet-21


Signals of soil’s own thermal emission are received by four sensors, summed, filtered, amplified, detected, transformed into the digital form and sent to a microcontroller (ATMEGA128) where it is recalculated into a moisture figure and recorded on a WMS card together with GPS navigation information. After that this information is recorded by a computer to build moisture maps.

Devices of this type are applied in the US by Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University (AAMU) to build moisture maps of farming lands.
